He was predeceased by : his parents, Allard Dennis Blanton and Edell Pridgen Blanton; his former life partner Elizabeth Jeanwood Harrelson Blanton; his wife Barbara Ann Surles Blanton; his siblings, Franklin Delano Blanton, Bonnie Faye Blanton and Berkeley Blanton; and his nephew Marty Floyd.

He is survived by : his daughter Leslie Blanton Hardee (Ricky); his grandchildren, Joshua Hardee (Amelia) and Rachel Elizabeth Hardee (Ty McNealy); his great grandchildren, Jaiden, Avery, Alaina, Elliana, Tahan and Jenson; his close friend Myrtle Holmes; his nieces and nephews, Jeff Floyd, David Floyd, Barry Watson, Lori Denise Brown, Connie Blanton Rowell and Susan Blanton Wilson; and also, David and Sammy. He is also survived by many great nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
