He was predeceased by : his parents, George Samuel Johnson and Flora Inez Miller Johnson; and his siblings, Calvin Johnson, Virginia Smith, Ludie Norris, Eunice Cox, Velma Strickland and Peggy Gore.

He is survived by : his wife Betty Johnson; his children, Cindy Burbridge (Ken) and Paul Johnson; his grandchildren, Stefanie Deshong (Jamie), Christian Stallings (Jordan), Casey Johnson (Emily), Mary Freshwatwer (John), Tanner Johnson, Sarah Johnson and Grace Hardee (Zach); and his sister Myrtle Holmes. He is also survived by seventeen great-grandchildren.
