He was predeceased by: his father James Walter Stone; his former wife Judy Morse Stone; his brother Jerry Stone; and his stepbrothers, Jimbo and Jessie Stone.

He is survived by: his mother Juanita Baker Akers (Cliff) of Hodges; his wife Diana M. Stone; his stepchildren, Greg Kilgore of Lowndesville, Mary Anna Bowman (William) of Lowndesville and Anita Powell (Rusty) of Lowndesville; his grandchildren, Derek Kilgore, Alex Kilgore (Katie), Collyn Smith (Randall), Emma Mathews (Ben), Luke Bowman, Cody Powell, Dylan Powell and Anna Brooke Powell; his great grandchild Landry Smith; his sister Jan Townsend (Curtis) of Hodges; and his stepsister Linda Yow (Marshall) of Sanford, NC. He is also survived by extended family and friends.
