With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Akiko Hara Bowers of Lugoff, South Carolina, who passed away on September 14, 2023. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband Harold J. Bowers; her parents, Tamazo Hara and Humiyo Hoki Hara; her brother Kyokazu Hara; her son-in-law Frank Arant; and her grandson Jamie Arant.
She is survived by: her children, Jo Arant of Kershaw, H. Wayne Bowers of West Columbia and John T. Bowers (Gwen) of Camden; her sisters, Kanako of Japan, Setuko of Japan and Kayoko of Japan; her grandchildren, Becky Arant, Alex Bowers and Jesse Bowers; her great grandchildren, Alayna Arant and John Weston Henderson; and her stepgreat-grandson Dalston Snipes.
Memorials may be made to Providence Baptist Church.
