She was predeceased by: her parents, Tom Brown and Frances Brown; her former husband Alfred Chavis, Jr.; her husband Willie Kelly, Jr.; her children, David Chavis, Sr., Larry Chavis, Thelma Louise Chavis Johnson, Alfreda C. Bennett, Carolyn Hall Parks, Stanley Chavis and Andre Chavis; and her siblings, Andrew Brown, Jesse Brown, Dorothy Johnson and Leroy Patterson.
She is survived by: her children, Jesse Chavis (Earnestine) and Marilyn Harris; and her granddaughter Janice Nelson (Kevin). She is also survived by 24 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; several great-great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church.
