He was predeceased by: his parents, Clark Miles and Jessie Cash Fortner; his brothers, LeRoy Fortner, Roger Mack Fortner and Herman Bruce Fortner; and his great grandchild Ava-Lynn Ott.
He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Ross Fortner; his daughters, Vicki Ott (Dean) of Lexington and Jill Slater (Edward) of Elgin; his grandchildren, Jack Edward Slater (Shaylee Thorne), Rylie Renee Slater, Patrick Ott (Taylor) and Hayden Ott; his great grandchildren, Adaline Ott and Oliver Ott; and his pet Sassy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
