He was predeceased by: his parents, Porter Motley and Gertrude Odom Motley. He is survived by: his wife Judy Motley; his sons, James "Jay" Motley (Virginia) of Elgin and Robert "Robbie" Motley (Pepper) of Elgin; and his sisters, Patsy Miles of Elgin and Peggy Phillips of Elgin. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
