He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. Willie Rosa Barfield and Alberta Jackson Barfield; his wife Doris Branham Barfield; his son William Mark Barfield; and his siblings, Burdette Conyers, Willie Mae Dennis, Grace Polk and Charles Lester Barfield.
He is survived by: his children, John E. "Johnny" Barfield Jr. (Pam) of Lugoff, Renee Barfield Catoe (Ronnie) of Lugoff and Dana Melissa Reeder (William) of Lugoff; his sisters, Lucille Brazell, Ruth Blackmon, Peggy Jones and Patricia Sims; and his grandchildren, Shannon Nelson (Jason), Suzanne Church (Brad), Amber Cameron (Chad), Samantha Rollings (Chris), Lauren Malbone (Josh), Taylor Catoe (Keri), Dylan Reeder (Mickayla) and Megan Reeder. He is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
