He was predeceased by: his parents, Clyburn Ray and Betty Hinson Ray. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Davis Ray; his children, Beverly Ray-Dowey (David), Shelia Ray McCoy (Bobby) and Chris Ray (Pam); his siblings, Tommy D. Ray (Brenda) and Debbie Moak Hughes (Billy); and his grandchildren, Lauren E. McCoy, David Joseph Dowey III, Braxton D. Wallace, Rayghan C. Dowey, Aaron Brice McCoy, Wallyce-Olivia Sloan, Gracie Ray, Walker D. Ray and Jaxon C. Ray. He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Gideons International.
