He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Fred Hayes and Blanche Esther Hammond Manning; his stepmother Beatrice Hayes; his son Robert J. Hayes; and his siblings, Bruce A Hayes, Francis J. Hayes, Edith D. Hayes and Wayne A. Hayes.
He is survived by: his wife Shirley J. Hayes; his children, Shane Hayes (Becky) of Lugoff, Toni L. Hayes of Lugoff and William A. Hayes (Jennifer) of Lugoff; the mother of his children Bonnie L. Joslin; his grandchildren, Zeke Oltz, Nick Craft, Amanda Hayes, Ezarea "George" Hayes, Elijah Craft, Austin Hayes, Asia Ladd, Jahlyn Belote, Jeb Dolbec, Everett Hayes and Ella Hayes; and his sister Charlene Ann Hayes (Larry Joslin) of Groton, N. Y.. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Smyrna United Methodist Church.
