He was predeceased by: his parents, Thurman Sloan and Carrie Cox Clardy; and his sister Iris Ellis. He is survived by: his wife Minnie Jane Evatt Clardy; his children, Michael E. Clardy (Dawn) of Little River, S. C., Paula Jane Boller of Anderson and Alisha Dawn Holder (Scott) of Pickens; and his grandchildren, Georgia Toney, Meagan Wallwork, Daniel Wallwork and Michaela Clardy.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or St. John United Methodist Church.
