She was predeceased by : her spouse Ashley LeGrande Gardner, Sr.; her parents, Jackson "Jack" Thomas Thames and Hennie Mae Geddings Thames; her sons, Ashley LeGrande "Poncho" Gardner, Jr. and James Donald Gardner; and her sister Mildred Thames Price.

She is survived by : her children, Debra T. Barnhardt (Tom) of Charlotte, NC and Kenneth P. Gardner of Sumter. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

“I am sorry for the family's loss. Jacqueline and her daughter, Debi, had significantly influenced my life from a young age. I don't believe I would be where I am today without their friendship from years past. You have always been in my thoughts and prayers since we first met. Distance and time have separated us over those years, but there has never been a time I have not been thankful for our relationship so long ago. I regret not seeing you before you crossed over to the other side.”
