He was predeceased by: his parents, William L. Chavis and Annie Ruth Clark Chavis. He is survived by: his wife Sally Smith Chavis of McColl; and his children, William L. Chavis III of McColl, Shannon Dwayne Brigman of McColl and Dena Dawn Brigman of McColl. He is also survived by four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and other family members.
