With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Deborah Powell Petit of McColl, South Carolina, born in Cheraw, South Carolina, who passed away on October 27, 2025 at the age of 48. As we bid Deborah farewell, let us not mourn the absence of her physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of her spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Deborah is not truly gone, but merely transformed, her energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
She was predeceased by: her father Edward Powell; and her brother Eddie Powell. She is survived by: her mother Audrey Cook Powell of Cheraw; her husband Walter Petit of Blenheim; her son Jay Petit (Amber) of McColl; her sisters, Judy Powell Jones of Columbia, Sharon Sampson (William) of Laurel Hill, NC and Janice Palmer (Harold) of Ohio; her grandson Sawyer Jay Petit; and her siblings' children, Robyn Roscoe, Phillip Walden, Alyssa Bumgardner and Anthony Roscoe. She is also survived by several other nieces, nephews, cousins, and other extended family.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 3rd 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Rogers Funeral Home (300 N Church St, McColl, SC 29570).
