He was predeceased by: his parents, Horace Carlton "Pie" Wideman, Sr. and Dorothy Settles Wideman; and his siblings, Maxine W. Jennings, Beverly W. Leverett, Joe Nathan "Harold" Wideman and Cedric Elijah Wideman.

He is survived by: his wife Gabriele "Gabi" Pompe Wideman; his sons, Daniel Otto Wideman of Winston-Salem and Jeremy Setursky of Rheine, Germany; his brothers, Emory Wideman of Killeen, David Reginald "Carrie" Wideman of San Antonio and Erwin A. Wideman of Greenwood; his aunt Maude W. Singletary of Detroit; his uncle Elder Timothy Settles of Atlanta; and his sister Melanie W. Rucker of Greenwood.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Shiloh African Methodist Episcopal Church.
