We announce the death of Lucy B. New of Moncks Corner, South Carolina, who passed away on August 11, 2026, at the age of 97. Lucy will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Lucy will be remembered for the impact she had on the lives of those around her. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Lucy will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture her life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Lucy’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued her companionship.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Charles Brodeur and Delia Whitman Brodeur; and her husband William Frank New. She is survived by: her children, Sally N. Cannady (Bubba) of Moncks Corner, Gail N. Taylor (Greg) of Neptune Beach, Florida, John C. New (Penelope) of Moncks Corner, William F. New, Jr. (Nancy) of North Charleston and Martin K. New of Cross; and her sister Rita B. Hellyer of Erie, Pennsylvania. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501St.
