She was predeceased by: her parents, Elizabeth Wilson Hitt and Hurley Franklin Hitt; her husband Gilbert Brooks; and her brother Allen F. Hitt. She is survived by: her sibling's children, Ben Ichiro Hitt and Fuji Fiddie (Wayne Myers); her great-nephews, Sterling Fiddie (Sierra Fiddie), Forrest Fiddie (Alexis Fiddie) and Corbin Fiddie (Lauren Fiddie); and also, Waylon Fiddie and Chiyo Fiddie.
Visitation was held on Friday, July 25th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the James Island Chapel (347 Folly Rd, Charleston, SC 29412). A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. Mark United Methodist Church (413 Geddes Ave, Charleston, SC 29407). A burial was held on Saturday, July 26th 2025 from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM at the Holy Cross Cemetery (604 Fort Johnson Rd, Charleston, SC 29412).
