He was predeceased by: his parents, Eula Whetstone Cato and Carson Whitfield Cato, Sr.; his grandmother Bertha Cato; his siblings, Carson Whitfield Cato, Jr. and Ida Lee Cato; and his granddaughter Natalie Shuler.
He is survived by: his wife Loretta Risinger Cato; his children, Clarence Michael Cato, Jr. (Karen) and Christy Cato Shuler (Nathan); his grandchildren, Emily Shuler, Alissa Cato, Joshua Cato and Evan Shuler; and his sister Phyllis Cockrell. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins.
