She was predeceased by : her parents, George Burgess and Estelle Kneece Bolin Burgess; her husband Edwin Carroll "Buck" Fox; and her daughter Diane Winstead. She is survived by : her children, Randy Fox and Donna Lybrand (Crys); her brother John Henry Burgess; and her grandchildren, Brad (Kelly), Rushton, Brittany McGaha (Daniel) and Blake Lybrand.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Keith Fox wrote a sympathy message

“Dear Randy, Donna and the rest of your family. My dad just told me of Aunt Irene’s passing. We don’t get to see him often and I’m sure he thought we already knew. I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. Aunt Irene was very special and so was your dad. I know you will miss her so much. My prayers will be with you all. May God give you his love and eventually his peace during such a difficult time.
