He was predeceased by: his parents, George Frederick Reitmeier, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Lewandowski Reitmeier; his siblings, Kenneth Reitmeier and Lois Carey; his daughter-in-law Ellin Reitmeier; and his brother-in-law David Carey.

He is survived by: his children, George "Skip" F. Reitmeier, III, Pattie Farlow and Mary Beth Moss (Stone); his sister-in-law Barbara Reitmeier; his grandchildren, Zachary Reitmeier (Lisa), Sara Katherine Petite (Justin) and Kyle Reitmeier (Maggie); and his great grandchildren, Ella Reitmeier, Avery Reitmeier, Logan Petite, Eliza Petite, Jack Petite, Riggs Reitmeier and Molly Roe Reitmeier.

He also participated in a 2023 and 2024 trip to Normandy for WWII veterans with the Best Defense Foundation.
