He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry Throope Sweet, Jr. and Henrietta Sweet (Elliott); his wife Mary Frances; his daughter Beverly; and his sisters, Deborah, Barbara and Phyllis.

He is survived by: his granddaughter Jessica Fink of Asheville, NC; and his son David Fink of Mt Pleasant, SC..
