She was predeceased by : her parents, John Murray and Irma Murray; her husband John W. Coombs; her daughter Sandy L. Taylor; and her sister Elsa Murray Smith.

She is survived by : her daughters, Mary Lou "Missy" Jahnz Day (Steve), Cynthia A. McDonough (Chris), Connie A. Webb, Cathie L. Moroski (Mike), Cindy L. Foster (Rhett) and Shari A. Lipe (Jeff); and her great grandchild Lulu. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church of Charleston, SC.
