She was predeceased by: her former husband Joseph Paul Rutledge of King, NC.. She is survived by: her husband Thomas Walker Nelson of Mt. Pleasant, SC; her daughter Mary Jo (Thomas Stokes Dennard); her grandsons, Clayton Rutledge (Christina Dennis Dennard) of Charleston, SC and Taylor Stokes (Lauren Zimmerman Dennard) of Overland Park; her great grandchildren, Ada Nicole Dennard and Abel Stokes Dennard of Overland Park, Kansas.; Joseph Dennis Dennard of Charleston, SC.
A memorial service was held on Monday, October 6th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Forsyth Memorial Park (3771 Yadkinville Rd, Winston-Salem, NC 27106).
