Though William may no longer walk beside us, his spirit lives on in the memories and the legacy William leaves behind.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Maude Fox Gilden and J. B. Gilden of Greenwood, SC.; and his wife Carolyn Cole Gilden. He is survived by: his sons, William H. Gilden, Jr. (Paula Wood) of Rodman, SC and Jody H. Gilden (Traci) of Lexington, SC; his stepson Dr. Kelley Ford Shippey III (Heather) of Greenville, SC; and his sisters, Mary Gilden Mason of Hilton Head, SC and Mildred Gilden Bosse of Hernando, MS. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, November 4th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the J. Henry Stuhr, Inc., Mount Pleasant Chapel (1494 Mathis Ferry Rd, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, November 5th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the All Saints Lutheran Church (2107 N Hwy 17, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464).
