He is survived by: his wife Christina Moseman; his daughter Shannon Jo Peternel (William) of Currituck, NC; his grandsons, Drew Peternel and Clayton Peternel; his mother Elaine Odell Moseman Strange; and his brother Randy Al Moseman (Crystal) of Crewe, VA..

Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 21st 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel (303 Chaney Ave, Jacksonville, NC 28540). A funeral service was held on Thursday, May 22nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Onslow Memorial Park (3280 Richlands Hwy, Jacksonville, NC 28540).

In lieu of flowers Joe's family asks that contributions be made to the American Cancer Society in his name.
