He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl E. Holley and Alma T. Baugh Holley; his wife Catherine Sue Holley (Readnour); his siblings, Peggy Lanham and Buddy Holley; and his great grandchild Talon Grey Hartless.
He is survived by: his children, David Earl Holley, Jr. of Murrells Inlet, SC, Buddy Shane Holley (Amy) of Orlando, FL, Pat Whitehouse of Bedford, VA and Katrinka Smith (Russ) of Goode, VA; his grandchildren, David Holley, III, Holley Perkins (Ken), Taylor Gokee (Mike), Stephen Smith (Stephanie), Andrew Holley, Sarah Pittard (Lindsey), Logan Gray, Shanna Holley and Michael Holley; and his great grandchildren, Braylon Holley, Amelia Perkins, Victoria Smith, Deegan Holley, Eason Holley, Micah Smith, Kolson Pittard and Fynlie Taylor. He is also survived by extended family and many supportive friends and neighbors.
