With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Preston Hawfield of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, who passed away on February 26, 2026 at the age of 66. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
Though James may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those James touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Houston Hawfield and Beatrice Hawfield. He is survived by: his wife Debra Ficklin; his children, Kaleb Hawfield, Melissa Hagen and Stephanie Thomas; his grandchildren, Lexus Hagen, Bryce Hagen and Elliette Thomas; his brother Hugh Hawfield; and his nephew Jake Hawfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Jimy's memory to Belin United Methodist Church.
