He was predeceased by: his parents, James L. Thompson, Sr. and Mervin Murriel Murphy Thompson; his grandson Spencer Thompson; and his sisters, Faye Lemmond and Mary Lee Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Joanne Thompson of Murrells Inlet, SC; his sons, Gary Thompson of Murrells Inlet, SC and Greg Thompson of Murrells Inlet, SC; his siblings, Edward Thompson (Amy) of Johns Island, SC, Stephen Thompson (Karen) of Charlotte, NC, Johnny Thompson (Carol) of Charlotte, NC, Nell Hartgrove (Danny) of Charlotte, NC and Diane Keistlar of Charlotte, NC; and his granddaughters, Tara Thompson and Taylor Thompson. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins & extended family.
The family has requested that memorial donations be made in Jim's name to the Surfside Presbyterian Church PCA, 8732 US Highway 17 Bypass South, Myrtle Beach, SC 29588.
