He was predeceased by: his parents, John R. Thompson, Sr. and Mary Emma Reese Thompson; his son Scott Allen Thompson; and his brothers, Sonny Thompson, Alfred Thompson and Ted Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Thompson of Murrells Inlet, SC; and his children, Mike Thompson (Reva Huff) of Murrells Inlet, SC, James Thompson of Murrells Inlet, SC, Amy McGinnis and Karie McKeel. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; nephews and cousins; a large, loving, extended family in PA; as well as many close friends.
