With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of John David Vereen of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 13, 2025 at the age of 83. As John departs from our midst, his spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved John. Though John may no longer walk beside us, his legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Gordon Vereen and Lula Fulton Vereen; and his brother Samual Gordon Vereen Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Patricia McCormick Vereen; his family, Gwendolyn Vereen Purtill (Patrick) of Annandale Virginia and Julie Vereen Hammel (David) of Murrells Inlet; and his grandchildren, Bridget Purtill, Samantha Lanford (Patrick), Katie Purtill, John Purtill, Benjamin Hammel and Jessica Hammel.
