He was predeceased by: his parents, William Lucas Sr. and Athleen Riola "Beanie" Dickey; his grandson Wesley W. Mahoney; his sons-in-law, Darrell J. Rowe and Timothy L. Hagan; his sister Sheila C. Myrick; and his brother-in-law Don Myrick.
He is survived by: his wife Nina Dickey; his daughters, Dawn D. Rowe (Paul) and Amy L. Hagan (Todd); his grandchildren, Heather Baxley (Sherman), Dustin Mahoney, Aniza Rowe, Whitney Roberson (Spencer) and Taylor Allen (Jordan); his great grandchildren, Tyler (Hannah), Hunter, Kaleb, Kyle, Jensy, Eli, Easton, Rain and Tatum; his great great grandchild Thea; his sister Debra Simmons (Jack); and his brother-in-law Robert Knight (Dorothy). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Heart Association, The Wounded Warriors Project, or The Alzheimer's Association.
