She was predeceased by: her father Harry Groover; her daughter Malynda Hope Bass; and her brothers, Richard Groover and Jerry Groover. She is survived by: her mother Alice Mae Cameron Groover; her husband Charles Ellery Bass Jr.; her children, Gene Ellery Bass (Melissa O'Rourke), Charles Ellery Bass III (Twyla) and Melissa Bass Ward (Richard); her grandchildren, Madison Ward Karnes (Colt), Richard J. Bice Ward, Kayla Bass Fosegan (Aaron), Dylan Bass (Rachel), Connor Bass, Cameron Bass, Drake Bass and Landon Bass; her great grandchildren, Grace Alice Karnes, Eloise Brooke Karnes and William Jack Karnes; and her sisters, Constance Allman, Evelyn Trumpler, Margaret Malone and Lavonne Massey. She is also survived by many loving cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, September 19th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Socastee United Methodist Church (5575 Dick Pond Rd, Myrtle Beach, SC 29588).
In lieu of flowers, Donna would have loved the thought of having a memorial tree planted in her honor.
