He was predeceased by: his father Elijah Washington. He is survived by: his mother Clara Bell Thomas; his wife Emily Lynn Shirah; his grandmother Ethel Mae Thomas; his siblings, Timmy, Jack, Catrina and Consulla; and his grandchildren, Caleah, Maelynn, Lukai and Avanna.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 18th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Florence National Cemetery (803 E National Cemetery Rd, Florence, SC 29506).
Gregory was US Army Veteran who then shifted his expertise to working with the National Science Foundation on the Antarctica Project.
