It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James Alex Gillespie Sr. of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, who passed away on November 11, 2025, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Sr. Gillespie and Irene Gillespie; and his brother Stephen Gillespie. He is survived by: his wife Connie (Jones); his children, James A. Gillespie, Jr. (Anne Taylor Gillespie) of Knoxville, TN and Sarah Hamilton (Carl Hamilton II) of Myrtle Beach, SC; his grandchildren, Carl Hamilton III (Trey), Dallas Hamilton, Brooke Gillespie and Layla Gillespie; and his siblings, Joe Gillespie and Ava King. He is also survived by aunt, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
