He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Robert Spann, Sr. and Louise Howard Ervin Spann. He is survived by: his wife Alice McIntosh Spann of Murrells Inlet; his son James McFadden Spann, IV (Byerly) of Murrells Inlet; his grandsons, James McFadden Spann and Robert Cale Spann of Murrells Inlet; his siblings, Louise Spann Smith of Myrtle Beach, Ginny Spann Merritt (Jimmy) of Myrtle Beach and Samuel Robert Spann, Jr. (Sammy) of Murrells Inlet; and his stepsisters, Jane Mothershead Jarvis (Jimmy) of Myrtle Beach and Yvonne Mothershead Wade (Jim) of Atlanta. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
