It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joseph Alanzo Decker Jr. (Myrtle Beach, South Carolina), born in Arcade, New York, who passed away on August 9, 2025, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph A. Decker, Sr. and Mildred Pauline Cooper; his stepfather Herbert Warren Lux Sr.; his siblings, Jane Crump and Gail Gordon Lux, Sr.; and his nephews, Joseph Decker, Jonathan L. Miess and Matthew T. Lux.
He is survived by: his girlfriend Nancy VanBuskirk; his grandchildren, Jeremy and Chaz Decker; his siblings, Ruth M. Lux, Herbert Warren Lux, Jr. and Michael Lux; and his nieces and nephews, Penny, Tracy, Toni, Angela, Kelly, Katie, Kenzie, Kimberly, Herbert, Gail Jr., Daniel, Benjamin, Geoff, Philip, Marc, Brandon, Justin and Jason. He is also survived by numerous great nieces and nephews, countless friends, students, and fellow animal.
In honor of his memory, the family asks that donations be made to American Quarter Horse Association, equestrian organization, or service dog training group a tribute to his lifelong dedication to the animals who brought him so much joy.
