He was predeceased by: his parents, John Joseph McGowan and Marie Alice Dillon; his former wife Ellen McGowan; and his sister Ann Marie Williams. He is survived by: his wife Sydney Wright of Myrtle Beach, SC; his children, Sara Thurber (Dave) and Dan McGowan (Erin); his stepdaughter Liz Wright; his grandchildren, Ava Thurber, Addison Thurber, Lyla McGowan, Dylan McGowan and Jackson McGowan; and his siblings, Jack McGowan (Jane), Gerry McGowan and Judy Lanou.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, December 19th 2025 at 6:00 PM at the Burroughs Funeral Home & Cremation Services (3558 Old Kings Hwy, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576).
