It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard L. Garner of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, who passed away on July 4, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Oliver L. "Pete" Garner and Ruth H. Garner. He is survived by: his wife Peggy; his children, Hayes and Lisa; his grandchildren, Ragan, Jake, Alli, Holly and Jan; and his brother Bob. He is also survived by his niece and four nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Myrtle Beach, 3810 Robert M. Grissom Parkway, Myrtle Beach, SC 29577, or the Rams Club, P.O. Box 2446, Chapel Hill, NC 27515, in honor of Dick's lifelong Tar Heel commitment and dedication.
