It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Sherrie Ellen McCarty of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, who passed away on April 26, 2025, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Flavel Wayne "Larry" Stevens and Norma Welch Tate; her husband Boyd W. McCarty; and her siblings, Bill Stevens, George Tate Jr. and Candance "Candy" Knapp.
She is survived by: her children, Kimberly Kay Massie, Dana Evon Massie and Wilbur Wayne Massie; and her stepchildren, Michael McCarty, Deborah McCarty (Edward Mechenbier) and Dale McCarty. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; as well as 2 nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 3rd 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Vernon Funeral Home (235 Miami St, Urbana, OH 43078). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 3rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Champaign County Historical Society and Museum, 809 E. Lawn Ave. Urbana, OH 43078.
