He is survived by: his wife Maria Elisa; his daughters, Sandra Carroca (Robert Carroca) and Ana Shumpert (Jason Shumpert); his grandchildren, EmilyAnn Carroca, Ian Carroca, Kennedy Shumpert and Preston Shumpert; and his siblings, Fernando Pires, Jose Pires, Estrela Pires, Luisa Claro, Luis Pires and Paula Nogueira.
