He was predeceased by: his parents, Rev. David A. McKenzie, Sr. and Erleen Fenters McKenzie; and his son Brent. He is survived by: his wife Debi McKenzie of Myrtle Beach; his sons, TJ McKenzie of Myrtle Beach and Todd McKenzie of Greensboro, NC; his grandchildren, Alexander, Isabella Hooks (Bradley), Hanna Richardson (Dawson), Rebecca, Reese and Ryleigh; his great grandchildren, Daniel Brent, Colton Hugh and Carson Grace; his daughters, Jessie McKenzie of Aynor, Kristen McMasters of Greensboro and Michelle McKenzie of Andrews; and his brothers, Julius McKenzie of Kingstree and David McKenzie, Jr. of Aynor.

His son Brent preceded him in death just recently from Covid-19.
