With heavy hearts, we announce the death of William Byers Philips (Myrtle Beach, South Carolina), who passed away on February 6, 2025 at the age of 98. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
As we bid farewell to this cherished soul, solace is taken in the memories held dear — the laughter shared, the wisdom imparted, the moments of quiet reflection in their presence. Though William may no longer walk among us, his spirit lives on in the echoes of his kindness, the warmth of his embrace, and the light of his enduring love.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruth Montgomery Philips and William B. Philips, Sr.; his wife Marie Powell Philips; and his children, William B. Philips and Marie Randolph Cole.
He is survived by: his daughter Katherine Montgomery Philips; and his granddaughter Katherine Marie Cole. He is also survived by 8 nieces and 5 nephews, their spouses, and children.
Flowers are welcome, but in lieu of flowers, a memorial may be made to Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church, Mountain Brook Presbyterian Church, or your favorite charity.
