He was predeceased by : his wife Magdalena Rich Cooper; his parents, Jim Cooper and Louise Pressley Cooper; and his siblings, Willa, John S, James Marion, Charles and Ethel.

He is survived by : his children, Sherman Cooper (Maydean) of Nesmith, SC, Charmon Cooper of Nesmith, SC and Anjanette Cooper of Jacksonville, FL; his siblings-in-law, Horace Rich (Irene) of Nesmith, SC, Eugene, Edna Cooper of Nesmith, SC, Ricklyn McCray of Nesmith, SC, Annie Cooper of Hemingway, SC and Sadie Cooper of Bronx, NY; and his aunts, Rachel Harriston of Philadelphia, PA and Celia Pressley of Philadelphia, PA. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren.

Viewing was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Clauddie Henryhand Memorial Chapel (1951 Thurgood Marshall Hwy, Kingstree, SC 29556). A funeral service was held on Saturday, April 27th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Greater St. Mark A. M. E. Church (1297 Old Georgetown Rd, Hemingway, SC 29554).
