He was predeceased by: his parent Hattie O'Dell Ferguson; and his siblings, Jesse "Buck" O'Dell, Frances Bannister (Mid), Elizabeth Sligh (George) and Rudolph Ferguson (Lorraine).

He is survived by: his parent Edgar Setzler "Boggie" O'Dell; his spouse Joan Dennis O'Dell; his children, Jeff O'Dell (Kim), Steve O'Dell, Mike O'Dell (Cindy), Blue O'Dell and Heather (Mac Montgomery) of Newberry, S. C.; his grandchildren, Sarah O'Dell, Teal O'Dell, Sloan O'Dell Mayer (Nathan), Rusty O'Dell, Dillon O'Dell, Bryar O'Dell and River O'Dell; and his great grandchildren, Abbigale O'Dell, Houston May and Willow Mayer.
