It is with great sadness that we announce the death of George Rufus Wertz (Newberry, South Carolina), who passed away on May 2, 2025, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Wertz and Sallie Wertz; his daughter Jewel Jones; and his siblings, Lula Mae Rainer, Ozzie Lee Goggans, Lillie Wertz, Estelle Oxner, Doris Plummer, Thomas Wertz, Willie Davidson and Haskel Wertz.
He is survived by: his children, Sharon Moon (Norman), Jacqueline Lewis (Jerry), Audrey Wertz, Veronica Spearman (Terry), Kisha Wertz, George Wertz Jr., Stanley Gilmore, Michael Wilson and Jason Yarborough; his siblings, Mildred Crump, Veronica Singleton (Calvin), Sallie Cannon and Curtis Wertz (Ida); and his brother-in-law Vernon Oxner.
