He was predeceased by: his parents, Irvin Lee and Janie Ruth Hedgepath Dodgen. He is survived by: his daughter Laurie Ferguson (Steve) of Flat Rock, NC; his grandson Rion James Ferguson (Clarissa) of Fountain Inn; his great grandchild Braeden Kennington; his sister Frances Counts of Prosperity; his nephews, Bryan Counts and Johnny Counts; his great-niece Sylvia Thackray (Rick); and his granddaughters, Tamara Thackray and Natalie Thackray.
