He was predeceased by: his parents, Royce Irvin McDowell and Myrtle Attaway McDowell; his brother Stanley McDowell; and his mother-in-law Mirin Vaughn. He is survived by: his wife Rhonda Vaughn McDowell; his children, Scott Ivan McDowell (Allyson) of Simpsonville and Blair McDowell Patterson (Jeb) of Ninety Six; his grandchildren, Bennett Alexander McDowell, Noah Parks McDowell, Graylen Vaughn Patterson, Evans Kate Patterson and McDowell "Mac" Ann Patterson; his sister Debra Ann McDowell of Ninety Six; his father-in-law Alton Vaughn; and his sisters-in-law, Valerie Vaughn Smith of Ninety Six and Patricia Vaughn Goodman (Gene) of Ninety Six.
