She was predeceased by: her father Roy Roscoe; her husband James S. Riggs; her son Terry Bates; her grandson Walker Hett; and her sister Joan Beach.
She is survived by: her children, Weldon M. Bates, Jr. and Cindy Hett Williams (Gerry); her grandchildren, Weldon M. Bates, III and Nicole Bates Rockett (Ben); her great grandchildren, Jody Rockett, Philip Rockett, Haley Bates, Hannah Bates and Lauren Bates; and her great great grandchild Baylor Locklair Bates.
