He was predeceased by : his parents, Robert M. Babbitt, and Alice Pyke Babbitt, Sr.; his former life partner Yong Ja "Cha" Babbitt; and his sisters, Marion Vargo, Gloris Yarnell, Lee Troxell and Geraldine Cipirano.
He is survived by : his wife Sandra; his children, Robert M. Babbitt III (Pam) of Ocala, FL, Julie A. Babbitt of North Augusta, SC, David J. Babbitt (Chasity) of Columbia, SC and Rebecca L. Roebuck of Waitsfield, VT.; and his sister Alice Carver of Deltona, FL. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to The American Heart Association, ASPCA, and St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, reflecting Robert's compassion and care for others.
