He was predeceased by : his parents, Jewel Ray and Ora Bell Smith; and his siblings, Jewel Ray Smith, Jr., Cecil Marion Smith, Jeanet Mitchel and Katherine Trudell.

He is survived by : his wife Linda Overstreet Smith; his children, Reneé Lutot (Sean) and Brad Smith (Rhonda); his grandchildren, Travis Byrd (Rebecca), Jeremy Byrd, Ryan Hewitt, Collin Smith, Morgan Smith and Garrett Lutot; his stepgrandsons, Nathan Haley and Dallton Deal; and his great grandchildren, Paisley Byrd, Ryder Hewitt and Madison Hewitt.
